Defn: a human male displaying evidence of devolution - exhibits distinctive "caveman-like" tendencies. This man often dribbles in public places; cannot drink a beverage without spilling it on himself, the floor or someone else; may also run into objects like lampposts & bushes; has a definite "sloopish & short legged" running style that is slow and low to the ground, often resulting in the dragging of knuckles.

These throwback neanderthals, along with their questionable diet, should clearly be avoided.

Greenland Trail 10 w/ Hill repeats

While the wind was blowing late yesterday got some last work in before Saturday's 25K.  Instead of doing a lap I parked at the South end by Palmer Lake / County Line Rd.  Ran a mile down to the hill turnoff.  Went 1 mile up, then back 1/2 mile, then up 1 mile, back a 1/2 - another mile forward etc......., then turned around and repeated back, ran the last 3 miles straight back to the car.  Some good hill, moderate tempo work, less than 900' of ups and bounced between 8:30 - 9 min pace the whole way.  Result: 10 miles in 1 hr, 27 1/2.  Avg pace 8:45.

About 55 people are in my age group Saturday, plus I am supposed to be tapering for the Marathon 2 weeks after that - so time to run smart, not trying to achieve or try to come close to what I did last year (8 mile race, 11th overall, 3rd in age group = best race result ever).   I want to be able to say / write after I am done that I ran smart.
