Possibly suffering from the Altitude effects from Saturday's Ascent - I just signed up for the Pikes Peak Road Ascent this Sunday morning.
Why do it? Thanks for asking.
1) Inaugural race.
2) Linked to the GOG 10 mile race and the Ascent - awards for completing.
3) Because it is up Pikes Peak - not to the top, just Glen Cove.
4) Because after this - races take the back seat to kids school, soccer, stuff.
5) Because I am a sucker for punishment.
Defn: a human male displaying evidence of devolution - exhibits distinctive "caveman-like" tendencies. This man often dribbles in public places; cannot drink a beverage without spilling it on himself, the floor or someone else; may also run into objects like lampposts & bushes; has a definite "sloopish & short legged" running style that is slow and low to the ground, often resulting in the dragging of knuckles.
These throwback neanderthals, along with their questionable diet, should clearly be avoided.

Sounds like a fun race! I would do it if I didn't have to work. Look forward to hearing about it.
ReplyDeleteUgh. No way.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't do it if it wasn't linked to the Ascent and GOG races. For sandbagging purposes - the road is steep (especially first few and last few miles), little to no shade plus I have 7 to 8 hrs drive the day before for a Soccer game. But, if I don't do it now, I'll probably never do it. Similar to, but beats, a trip to the Dentist.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great cartoon! Good luck out there - hope it's not like pulling teeth :))
